The obvious one, and worth it. Our adventure walks go up the saddle between the north and mid hills. Sheep graze the lower slopes, so dogs are on lead until we are past them, every time.

St Cuthbert's Way
Runs straight through the town and gives long, well-surfaced out-and-back walking in either direction. Reliable underfoot when everything else is mud.
The Tweed at Gattonside
Across the chain bridge and along the north bank — quieter than the Melrose side and a good option for nervous dogs who want space from other walkers.
Darnick and Newstead lanes
Quiet village lanes and field edges, ideal for puppy visits and short solo walks for dogs who are not up to the hills.
